The city of Santa Monica is located on the west side of Los Angeles County and is situated on the Santa Monica Bay.  Known for its white sandy beaches, and the famed "Santa Monica Pier," this beach community is called home by approximately 100,000 people.  Some notable residents include Bob Dylan, Sara Gilbert, Anjelica Huston, Tommy Kendall, Lorenzo Lamas, Lorna Luft, Robert Redford, Bobby Sherman, Amber Tamblyn, and Shirley Temple.

Santa Monica´s lifestyle is an unusual blend of easy-going beach fun and an upscale Los Angeles ambiance.   With little rainfall and almost no humidity, Santa Monica is world renowned for its culture, sandy beaches, and entertainment.  The city provides a major outdoor pedestrian-oriented shopping district known as the Third Street Promenade which stretches along three blocks between Broadway Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard.  Along the Pacific Coast Highway lies a well-maintained path that provides residents a place to walk, jog, bike, or skate.  Built in 1909, the Santa Monica Pier is still a major attraction area and still boasts its colorful carousel.  The city is served by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.  Private and parochial schools are scattered throughout the city and include St. Anne Catholic School, the Carlthorp School, the Santa Monica Montessori School, and Santa Monica Catholic High School.

Santa Monica real estate choices vary considerably and include condominiums, single-family homes, and grand estate properties.  The price range for real estate in the areas run anywhere from $500,000 up into the millions. Spanish and Mediterranean-style homes are popular in the area and can be found in a number of well-planned neighborhoods.
